Safety Training

The Electrical Employers Self Insurance Safety Plan (EESISP) sponsors robust safety programs targeted to both electrical contractors and to the members of Local No. 3. For the contractors, EESISP provides a service that mirrors New York's Code Rule 59 program, including the services of full-time Certified Safety Professionals, who assist contractors to recognize and correct any deficiencies they may have and to develop a comprehensive safety program.

Once a contractor designs a safety program with EESISP's assistance, EESISP provides follow-up services to encourage effective implementation. For the members of Local Union No. 3, a full-time Safety Director coordinates training (placing particular emphasis on the training of forepersons) in a wide range of areas, including scaffolding, fall protection, Lock out/Tag out, material handling, lead and asbestos abatement, confined space, excavation, respiratory protection, ladder and stairway safety, personal protective equipment, MSDS and jobsite chemical exposure issues, road and work zone safety, emergency medical response and evacuation procedures, forklift driving, defensive driving and boson's chair/bucket truck safety procedures.

EESISP's proud tradition provides a solid foundation as it continues to evolve in response to the changing needs of the workforce, the contractors and the larger workers' compensation environment. EESISP is continuing a multi-year self-appraisal concerning its mission and the tools that it uses to manage its workflow. In the coming year, EESISP will be identifying and implementing those best practices currently used throughout the workers' compensation area that are appropriate for this unique organization.
